Audrey Hepburn

Hello, fellow bloggers! Thanks for all the lovely comments and stuff, I've been feeling really good this past week. :-)

Anyway, I just wanted to show you this thing that I did for Art. We're studying cubism and so I decided to do my own take on synthetic cubism, which includes collage. I based my collage upon a drawing that I had done a while ago of Audrey Hepburn in the iconic scene as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's. You can see the original post: here! I have also posted the original drawing in this post too. It was all actually so much more time-consuming that I had originally anticipated, but yeah. The choice of newspaper cuttings for the background was done in some sort of bid to represent the media surrounding celebrities and fame in general. I highlighted out some words such as "money", "ambition", "legendary", "joy", "quality", "the sky's the limit" and a few others. I found the duration of making this piece a thought-provoking one. Hope you like it! :-)

This weekend, I'm just gonna read some books which I checked out from the library and then just generally chill. I'm looking forward to just doing nothing. And then we only have three and a half days left and then it's Easter, I'm so psyched! Some family and friends are coming round next weekend and then I might try and see if my sister and I can take a trip down to London at the start of the summer. Bit of a long way away, but I want to make some more plans. I'm a bit neurotic like that, what with all my list-making!

Also, nearly forgot.. I received my first blog award the other day from the lovely Mads from It's Okay To Procrastinate You should all definitely check out her blog. :)

So.. seven things about myself?
1. I kind of touched upon this in the first part of this post. I am incredibly neurotic and a complete perfectionist. I'm also a neat freak. Everything has to be the way that I want it, otherwise I go a little mad.
2. I drink caffeine all the time. All the time. I love tea and lattes and iced lattes. And I have to have at least one can of Coke a day. I don't know why, I've just gotten used to it now. I have really, really milky tea with one sugar and I prefer Coke Zero to normal Coke.
3. I'm classed as a complete geek when it comes to studies. My favourite subjects are Maths and Chemistry, whilst I have some interests in Art and Latin. For my GCSE options, I opted for Latin, Art, History and French with Geography and Food Tech as back ups.
4. I love listening to music. I'm terrible at the actual lesson and I can't play any instruments at all, but I love listening to music. I remember having a pop phase, an indie phase, a rock phase and now I'm in between everything. I love folk, blue-eyed soul, indie, bit of old rock. I'm a fan of both the classics and also new bands. Van Morrison remains to be one of my favourite singers.
5. I could never be a vegetarian. Ever. I love food, I love meat. Food is not food without meat. Steak and chicken and lobster and everything. I love watching cooking programmes, I just wanna be on Come Dine With Me, ha!
6. I'm an atheist! I don't believe in God, but I still respect those who have opted to believe in a religion and a God. I understand why there is religion; for people, it answers the why, whilst science only answers the how.
7. You may have guessed... I like clothes! My mother's penchant for designer clothing has made me a ridiculously lucky fourteen year old! I love all my designer clothes, hand-me-downs, high street clothes and everything.

And that's about it!

I would like to nominate seven other bloggers, it was so hard to choose!
Had to add an extra one.. 8. Camille at Owl Wings

So... This blog turned out to be longer than expected! Anyway, have a great weekend and next week before Easter. Happy blogging! :-)

Happy

I seem to only ever write on my blog on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays. What does this tell you about my busy, busy life? Not that much apart from the fact that school really does take up all of my time.

I want this mug, but not for nine pounds, I don't!

Anyway, we had a teacher training day on Friday, so that was good because I got up early (no lie-in, but oh well) and went to town with my sister, Christy, Abi and Gabi. We chilled out for a bit, had warmed up custard, chocolate and bananas for breakfast and then played Cluedo for a while, which I completely suck at! Then we got the bus to town and mooched around the shops and bought presents for our friend, Kirsty's birthday. We got a nice photo frame, a 'K' wooden sign, both from Urban Outfitters and then some jewellery and a mirror from H&M - all lovely stuff. Then we walked around more and then were starving hungry so we went to Pizza Hut for the buffet, which was lovely. We had a ton of food and we were stuffed by the end. Then we went and did some more shopping and met up with some other friends in Selfridges; a few girls in our year and some other boys.. I saw an old friend as well, which was really good as I hadn't seen her in ages.
Then Gabi treated us all to drinks at Starbucks, I had an iced caramel macchiato, my favourite drink! And then we just chatted and took some photographs. Then Gabi went home and then Christy, Abi and I went to get the bus back to hers, so we could wrap up the presents and then got a lift to the cinemas.
When we got there, we met up with Kirsty, Lucy and Ellis, where we watched the Bounty Hunter. It was actually a lot better than I expected it to be, so that was really good :-) After that, we went back to Kirsty's for more food and cake. We watched lots of telly and chatted and played board games such as Articulate, Charades and other stuff. Then we watched loads of films; Crossroads, starring Britney Spears and Zoe Saldana which was so so so cheesy! And also A Cinderella Story, which was equally cheesy. I managed to get my head down at about 6:30 am and we just chatted, then I got up at about 8:00 am, then we had croissants and pancakes and watched The Hangover, which was really good. Then I went hoooome and slept for like five hours. And then I did not much else and now I'm doing this! Anywho, here are some photos:

Hope you like the photos. I have some other stuff to blog about too and also some cool pictures, but I'll leave that for maybe next weekend as I have to finish my art piece and also do my ICT coursework which is in for this Friday, so.. yeah. Oh yeah, I got an A* in my ICT mock which is good! Also, I'm speaking in assembly tomorrow for Amnesty International, a very worthwhile cause. :-)

Have a great rest of the weekend, I did! Happy blogging.

Hello to my 42 followers! I'm grateful for every single one of you, it's so nice and I never thought that I would get past 10 followers, let alone 40!

So, my week's flown by! The week started off pretty well and then on Tuesday, as I mentioned in the previous post, it was Pupil Focus Day, so I basically got a day off and I did nothing, which was good. Then the other days were fairly uneventful, though I'm really getting into my school's Amnesty International group - it's such a rewarding group to be a part of.

Then I got chosen as part of a group of ten students for this Science event at the Thinktank at Millennium Point in Birmingham. I got up early on Friday and ventured out to town on the train, bought an iced latte from Starbucks, then arrived late for the 8.45 am start - oops. Nothing can come between me and my caffeine though :-) Then the day was quite interesting, we looked at forensics and preserved our own DNA. Then my friends Abi, Matt and I went off to town for a little while, which was fun. Then I went off to get the train back home, I missed one so then I went to get a Costa latte and then I got the train back. It was an interesting day though and a great way to end the week.

Now I've got some coursework stuff to do and also, here's a sort of outfit post:
PhotobucketDenim pencil skirt - Urban Outfitters (£10); Black vest - Random; Blueish top - Gap (Hand-me-down); Cream cardigan - Betty Jackson (Sale, from my mum); Necklaces - Accessorize

Also, I've got a craving for some more books, but my Waterstones gift card balance is teetering towards dangerously low, with just £8.02 left. Might have to wait a while, if I'm gonna save up for stuff in America. Maybe books will be cheaper over there?

Books to read:
On The Road - Jack Kerouac
Naked Lunch - William S. Burroughs
Running With Scissors - Augusten Burroughs
Thirteen Reasons Why - Jay Asher
Choke - Chuck Palahniuk
Lost At Sea - Bryan Lee O'Malley
There are some others, but I forgot! I have another list somewhere...

Also, I got a new magazine yesterday, April 2010's issue of Marie Claire. The free gift is this nice cream thing and the articles are good; I much prefer them to Vogue, whilst Elle is my favourite. Some of the articles included: Diane Kruger (she was on the cover) and I love her, one on the late, great Isabella Blow. There were some other good ones too :)

And fiiinally, check out a girl in year eleven at my school called Beth, her blog is Wide Eyed & Wonderful. She has amazing fashion sense, a wicked sense of style and humour and stuff, and she is also in love with all things to do with moustaches. (Doesn't this sound like a dating advertisement or something, ha?) Anyway, check out her blog as she's just started!

That's it really. I've got some nice pictures saved which I'll post in my next blog post, as this one is kind of bogged down with loads of stuff, haha. Anyway, have a great rest of the weekend and the rest of the week. I've got no school on Friday cause of a teacher training day and I'm going shopping for a present for my friend and then a sleepover! Looking forward to that. Happy blogging!

Hurrah

It's the weekend! My exams are over for the time being, thank goodness!
I just want school to finish now, but alas there are still four more weeks (or so) of school until Easter, I just want it to be here now. I want school to just end and I want it to be summer! This summer will be so good because of my holiday to NYC and Chicago. I'm looking forward to it so much. Also, the sun's shining (it's still quite cold), but at least it's not snowing or anything. I swear, most of my blog posts include a running commentary of the weather, haha. But yeah, things are not too bad!

Anyway, just because I haven't done an outfit post in a while, here are a few photos of me in my favourite trend of the moment - Double Denim!

Black jeans - DKNY (Hand-me-down); Black vest - Random; Burgundy button-up - Hand-me-down; Denim jacket: Gap (Hand-me-down); Necklaces - Accessorize (Around £5 each I think)
I never really wear many accessories, I always forget! But here, I'm wearing three necklaces (shock horror) and they're all equally lovely. One is a gold swallow, the other is a little black clock and the last one is a compass - all very quaint and I love them!

Anyway, I'm gonna chill today, do a bit of IT coursework, browse through some magazines... And then I'm going out with my mum, sister and a friend for lunch and maybe some shopping, so that'll be good. And then, we have Pupil Review Day on Tuesday at school where we can just go in for like 20 minutes, so I get a lie-in! And I've got nothing planned for that day, so I'll just chill
I hope you all enjoy the rest of the weekend, happy blogging!
